Robot Gorilla Returned, Sox in 4

So, I suppose I would be remiss if I neglected to mention that the Chicago White Sox swept the World Series in four games and that the city in which I reside by proxy is bubbly with celebration. But if you knew me at all, you'd be aware that the focused attention my brain ascribes to any local sports team is peripheral when said team is winning a championship and wholly indetectible during the mundane portions of whichever season is current. My reaction to the news, which I pieced together by noting portions of rolled newspapers on the sidewalk during my stroll to the morning bus, was one of relaxed surprise followed by an understated jubilant exclamation. In fact, in lieu of the conclusion to The Series, I was busy escorting a robotic gorilla through a dangerous prehistoric crater. This is just the hard-knock life I lead.

I also checked up on my membership status over at the Game Audio Network Guild website earlier this week. It seems that despite the fact that I did not renew my membership almost two months ago, I am still able to log into the site, browse and post on the messageboard, and access the critical recorded resources that contain every morsel of wisdom from the game audio illuminati hive mind. Let me restate that the reason I disassociated myself from the group was a general sense of decay, a feeling that no one was paying attention to the organization despite many assurances to the contrary. I still believe I have, for now, made the correct decision and ask the question of GANG leadership, "Who's Minding the Mint?".

Dim Sum Horror

Evan and Sandy were visiting us this weekend. Saturday afternoon, after a delicious buffet of Polish food at Red Apple we returned home and promptly took a nap. I've informed my coworkers that we'll have to make a visit to the Apple but we'll need to ensure that the afternoon of our visit is light on work at the office as well. On Sunday we headed to Chinatown to sample some Dim Sum at Phoenix, which was a new experience for Amy and I in terms of dining procedure. Dishes are literally driven around the dining area by waiters and you, the diner, are required to approve or disapprove their appearance on your table.

The Phoenix Restaurant's primary audience is the local Chinese residents so there was no Americanized placement of "alternative" silverware. Fortunately for me, I'm somewhat competent with a pair of chopsticks and was able to pick up all but the most slippery of foods. Amy was not so lucky so to compensate, she used a trick she learned from a tablemate at Benihana's: leave the chopsticks' rear end attached instead of breaking them apart. Regardless, we had a good time visiting with Evan and Sandy for the past couple of days.

The previous weekend of the 15th and 16th, Amy and I attended a 24 hour horror movie festival at the Music Box Theater with Dennis. I appreciated seeing Nosferatu with a live organ player. The instrument wasn't a real pipe organ, but the opportunities to see a silent film accompanied by a live musician in any form are increasingly slim so how can I be picky?

**Target Demogr!=@//phik

I only want it
because you make me want it
this is made up
that my life is better
I need it
when you fake it

it turns to liquid
I am sick with desire
fire in my hands
clandestine plans
I get it
anyway I can

my burning palms
now are burning palms
curled tightly around
cured. lost and found
I find it
anyway I can

air turns to smoke
jokes coughing in it
and when I cry
when I have it
you fake it
anyway you can

I will lose it

anyway I can

anyway
I can
so
